Preventative Services
The most powerful tool we have to protect you and your family against serious oral health problems is prevention. Our goal is to save you time and money by preventing problems rather than repairing them later. The professional team at our Murrieta dental office is focused on patient education and providing preventative treatments like dental sealants and office-applied fluoride treatments.
Exams and Dental Cleanings
It’s vital for you to be proactive with your own oral health by following a consistent routine of oral hygiene and good eating habits. Proper at-home hygiene is important, but your prevention plan must also include routine exams with Dr. Prais and thorough professional cleanings with one of our experienced dental hygienists.
If you are diligent about brushing and flossing twice a day, you may wonder why professional cleanings are important. The fact is that no matter how well you brush, you can’t get to all the places around and between your teeth where plaque and tartar linger.
Our hygienists have years of training and take the time to get to know each and every one of their patients. Understanding your lifestyle and oral hygiene habits helps them get the full picture so they can develop appropriate treatment plans that ensure a lifetime of great oral health for you and your family.

Dental Sealants & Fluoride - More Easy Ways to Protect Oral Health
Two valuable preventative services that we offer for you and your kids are the application of dental sealants and fluoride.
Sealants — Dental sealants are a protective coating that is applied to deep grooves in the chewing surfaces of your teeth. It can be very difficult for you and your kids to clean these areas thoroughly, leaving you at risk for developing cavities. Dental sealants smooth over these surfaces, making them easier for you to clean, reducing the risk of decay. Sealants are especially effective for protecting the oral health of kids who are prone to cavities.
Fluoride — Appropriate quantities of fluoride are one of the most effective ways to safeguard the oral health of your whole family. We all ingest a certain amount of fluoride in food and water, but it may not be sufficient to prevent decay. Application of topical fluoride helps make your teeth more resistant to the damaging effects of plaque, bacteria, and sugars that linger in the mouth.
